The Makerspace at Papakura High School is more than a room full of tools —it’s a launchpad for creative, enterprising, and entrepreneurial learning. From t-shirt design and clay work to 3D printing and laser cutting, students are engaging in hands-on learning that builds both technical skills and creative confidence. After-school sessions are packed, and more teachers are also engaging.

The Makerspace is also a hub for cultural expression, where traditional and modern methods meet: think clay models digitised for 3D printing allowing for multiple production runs. And with a growing video resource library, we’re building a sustainable model for independent learning—one that supports both students and staff.
As more teachers upskill, the Makerspace is becoming a catalyst for a connected, future-ready curriculum.
